Did you notice how he put it? "On the media"?
Skunk you can be a good liberal and recognize the disparities in how our society treats/views different races, while also recognizing the very real presence of disparities in group behavior(s).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Race_and_crime_in_the_United_States
The graph at the bottom of this page shows that black persons are on average 5 times more likely to commit violent crimes than white persons.
This problem is REAL the media may dis-proportionately report on crimes done by black men. That doesn't mean the disparity doesn't exist. There is something wrong here and refusing to acknowledge the problem will not make it go away.

When I first saw Core Animation and Spaces and how they worked and what they were capable of I immediately thought of what many people here have said before when Boot Camp first came out.
These two technologies, when combined, could make possible the idea of "Fast OS Switching". Could one of the "Top Secret" features be that Boot Camp was just there as a primer. It will still be there and operate in the same way but without the re-booting hassle. With Core Animation and Spaces, you could possibly have it running just as another user and "Fast Switch" between them. Being a part of Leopard now-(Boot Camp) it would stand to reason that these new technologies will be more easily accessable and used by Boot Camp.
Just a thought, let me know what you think.:D

Last I checked this kind of anti-competitive action was illegal under monopoly laws...
you might be right...wasn't MS hit with something similar? It's not fair for a distributor to threaten the product producer (OMG..that is bad english, but you know what i mean).
i actually think it's funny b/c the studios don't like to be told what to do by anyone. if using Apple helps distribute their products, i highly doubt they'll listen to wal-mart or anyone for that matter.
it would be interesting to know whether or not WM has specific distribution deals with studios which has language indicating the studios can't distribute.
in the end, it just looks pathetically whiny by WM to cry about this. "OH..we can't sell online so nobody else is allowed...that's not fair." blah blah boo hoo.
losers.

They should use the new LOVE mix of Tomorrow Never Knows with Within You Without You. The drumming is so cool and it would attract so much attention since although so many have heard the two separate songs, hearing the Mashup of the two is quite stunning and very modern. You should check it out if you have not yet. Amazing sound. Especially in 5.1
That album is completely lame. I was bored to tears listening to it on the Virgie magastore booth...
This is the best Beatles album period: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Grey_Album
Enough Jay-Z meets the Beatles is way more creative. Someday Applecorps will need to release this.

The salesman probably won't let you get out of the store without Applecare, a case, and a screen protector for fear of being fired. And while you are there, how is your cellphone treating you? They also have generic batteries 4 packs/$10.
Sorry, its a terrible place to shop and knowing how constrained their inventory with the "hot" phones, they probably won't have any in stock.

If you don't absolutely NEED it, practice a little self-control and wait. You'll regret you order if you place it and the new MBPs come out next weeek.

No one is saying that they want to do whatever the heck they want. The developers are saying they want to distribute their applications themselves without Apple having to Approve them. Sure, you can distribute applications on the store. It's a great thing. But you should ALSO have the choice to download an application from the internet from a companies website.
The "wankers down in Australia" are running jailbroken phones and clearly didn't read the farking directions. You do that, serves you right to have your phone infected with a worm.
But no one is saying everyone should have complete control over the phone. They're saying they want to distribute the applications themselves if they so choose to.
Palm and Android both allow this if I recall.
there was a thing last week where tweetdeck's new app was pulled because it crashed constantly. most of the problems with Windows over the last 20 years have been third party apps and drivers and not the OS itself, yet MS got the blame. Apple learned a lesson from that. it took MS years to change the architecture to limit bad code from developers

You can guess where the money from that 3rd 30" went :D :apple:
I keep most of my books on it...hoping to get another monitor soon.
From the pictures I can conclude you traded a 30" monitor, your Canon 70-200mm, and the orange frog for an iPad. :p

I don't at all. I have the physical box.
As I say, I agree with many of your points.
:D Keith, how do you like it. Is there a major difference between that set and the mono set. I am curious because I have been eyeing that purchase.

I agree that Apple needs to come up with some new designs for their hardware. I think the new nanos are a perfect combination of the nano (slim design, flash memory) and the mini (seemless casing, scratch proof) but the other products seem to be long in the tooth. The MacBook Pro/PowerBook has looked basically the same since it was debuted with a G4 processor (what was that, 2002?). The MacBook/iBook got a somewhat update look with the latest release, but kind of took a step backwards IMO.
However, with all of that said, 99% of us do not work for Apple and do not know how to design like they do. Where do you go with the current MBP? I would love to see an anodized black version but that still does not give us much of a difference at all. I am interested in seeing new products. I was dissapointed when they released the new MacPro's in the same encolusers. An extra optical slot and moving the power chord to the top of the tower does not count as a redesign.
Oh c'mon!! Why did the designers at apple pay education for?? Really?!!
Ok... I studied design myself(although a cinematographer now ;) ), and I know how hard it is to keep a sleek, clean, "ahead of its time" look and feel. But please!! 1yr Retro style?? Are they using recycled minis or something??
Really guys... This is not a complaint but Steve "Marketing Master" Jobs was not happy on this one... I know alot of people love the minis, and I also know that they will sell millions of "retro" nanos... but in a market POV its really bad to "go back in time" with design and say its brand new. And one last note about them: Theres millions of colors on the pallete... why use the same ones?? Again: are they recycled?? Cause if they are, Ill buy a couple, just for the sake of "saving the world".
the Mac Pros for example... they couldve done the cases with different finish or something.. but keeping the same design saved them millions of cash...
BUT WAIT!! :p
Ok... lets get a little optimistic here:
Steve told us all last year, that this (2006) was going the be the "year of transition". So its quite dumb of us to expect big redesigns, and/or mint new technologies...
That makes me think that the design team is REALLY focusing on applying those new patent technologies on a brand new line of products hard/software. And what happens is:
Marketing Director - Time for new yearlly ipods!!
Design Chief Exec. - Do we still have some Mini aluminum on stock?
Chief Hardware Engineer - Yes plenty for a couple of million.
Design Chief Exec. - Okay, so lets just wrap up our current stock of nanos with it, and get the hell out of here.
Marketing Director - Yes, cof cof, sir.
;) These are just my two cents... :p
Conclusion: Big redesigns -> 2007-2008

I wonder what MS is doing in Vista to prevent piracy? At that price I'm sure a lot of people will be tempted to pirate it.
The same thing they've been doing for years --- suing anyone they can catch

Does anyone know how the 7300GT compares to the X1600? I am leaning towards the 20" to replace my 17" rev. A iMacG5, but would upgrade to the 24" is the GPU is a big bump.
Apple has it benchmarked. It is a large jump.

Uh, they've sold the iPhone 4. Who care WHERE you get it, it's still an iPad.

Here's one more. Having grown up there, I'm quite familiar with the place as well. I should see it as a challenge but the familiarity makes it a difficult place for me to photograph.

Additionally, for the average person (who cannot read Hebrew and is not familiar with Jewish history and doctrine) it could be difficult to see the trinity in the old testament.
I'm a bit confused. How exactly does the context of the Old Testament point to a triune god? I've done a lot of academic study of the Tanakh in general, and Second Temple Judaism in particular, and I'm at a loss to where in Jewish orthodoxy the idea of a triune god exists.

I've done it on two 5.5g iPods. The problem is iTunesDB on the iPod breaks down when you get to around 33,000 songs (and Rockbox doesn't do any better). Nobody really gets it right anyway, I bought a 500 gb Android Tablet (Archos 5) and it too breaks down around 33,000 songs.
It sounds like you're hitting a limit at 32,768. That makes sense, since Int16 can only store numbers up to 32,768 (15 bits plus a sign bit) and Apple engineers probably figured that should be more than enough.;)

So, the way it is now, you buy Photoshop for around $650 and after 18 months you can upgrade for $190. Total: $840 for 36 months, plus you still have your software to use for as long as you want if you choose not to upgrade anymore...
So, $35 x 36 months = $1260 and after the 36 months finnish, you have nothing...
I don't see a big advantage here, unless you only use photoshop in a few projects a year... I don't know anyone who does that, tho...
Biggest advantage I can see would be adding and removing seats on a month-by-month basis based on business needs. For example, imagine your business suddenly picks up for a couple of months, and need an extra license for a contractor or other temporary worker you bring on.
You're right, though, in that if you miscalculate, you may end up paying more for a temporary license than you would for a permanent one.

Here's a question to ponder...How are people suppose to install this firmware if there macbooks keep shutting down?
Anyways, I reccomend people use this firmware instead of geting their heatsink replaced. The later option involves an ugly screw in the middle of your macbook.
At the next RSD, press the power button and don't let go until you hear a musical sound (maybe holding the button 4-5 second). Then when it reboots, it'll force the CUP to operate at 1GHz. And you won't get the shut down problem. This would probably be the best condition under which to do this firmware update. Good luck!
