No you would not. Don't fool yourself.
Made in USA is becoming something from the past. Americans need to come to the forefront of innovation and technology. Labor is always cheaper in countries like Brazil and China.
Americans want to pay Walmart prices so that to happen these products need to be made elsewhere.
An iPad "made in USA" would probably cost twice.
I'm not fooling anyone. I live in California. I know what its like to be price gouged for everything cost of living wise. I am very lucky to be able to afford the lifestyle. I would have no problem paying a 10-15% premium for a product made here, that is supported here, and helps develop my community.

I don't think its finalized, its just that the disk in the image at WWDC 2005 representing Leopard was a place holder since they didn't really come up with a concept for the Disk art yet. Just showing the development pace of the OS which was the main focus of the conference.
Touché ;) Still, I really think it will be released this year so I hope they have all the artwork finished.
Just saw a verizon commercial.. announcing a new phone. It was black, seemed to have an ipod-like click wheel, with a retractable keyboard in a vertical format.. and something about being announced 8.9.06..... do you suppose????
Uncle Walt says it sucks (http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06215/710850-96.stm).

Private organisations cannot fine people. The RIAA has levied no fines against individuals. There have been lawsuits and settlements, but not fines. Also, the RIAA cannot bring criminal copyright infringement charges, only civil ones. As such, you can't say "you're criminals". Criminal copyright infringement is not something that is brought against the casual software downloader, it is something that is charged against individuals that are into piracy for profit.
And it's not theft, it's copyright infringement. Theft deprives the true owner of his possession, copyright infringement doesn't.
At least if we're going to argue, let's argue using the proper terms.
You're right, it wasn't the RIAA handing the fines, of course, it was courts. But you're wrong, there most certainly have been fines:
http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2009/06/riaa-jury-slaps-2-million-fine-on-jammie-thomas/
http://www.pcworld.com/article/112436/industry_group_pays_childs_riaa_fine.html
My university was one of the schools targeted (several times) by the RIAA, which resulted in subpoenas to individuals, as well as several students losing all access to the university network.

Ain't that the truth! Anyone actually seen someone using one of these yet?
Obviously not...nobody sane would buy that piece of crap...not to mention that, if this exclusive deal with the Beatles comes to fruition, the Zune will be DEAD much sooner than we thought...

HTC and LG have the factory space to try and compete, so they do.
Nintendo makes products for 6 year old girls.
Apple is not interested in what is today known as "3D" which is just two out of focus images hurting your eyes.
Thank you for mentioning the "3D" issue.
It gives people head aches and I feel really ripped off at the movie theaters, when they charge for these glasses, that you theoretically could keep and use again and again etc.
But...........we know why they $ell them.

Can anybody guess whether the new C2D Macbooks will be hotter/cooler?
You would think cooler. They've stepped up their inspections because of the issues with the first generation MacBooks.

If this is the theme this year then it looks like wireless is the main product announcements..
agreed, but thats why i am very very interested in the typeface. the thin (notably thin) typeface suggests something beyond just the obvious "wireless stuff" connotations of the wording. if that phrase was set in the normal Myriad Pro weight thats one thing, to me this says more than just that.
but then again i am a designer and clearly have a fetishistic relationship with typography. so i may be wishfully thinking. :)

So what electronic has ZERO problems??
The more features that are packed into something, the more chances of issues. Doesn't make the iPhone 4 a "POS".
You've never owned one, so you wouldn't know.
Your veering way off point here. I'm not going to beat the iPhone 4 tragedy anymore, it's been done.
Of course all electronic devices have faults. Some more then others (iPhone 4). The 3GS had more features then the 3G, but didn't have the issues. Your comments are, quite frankly ridiculous. You don't have to own something to know it's crap. Yugos were crap, and most everyone agrees they were crap... Without owning one.
I'm sorry I hurt your feelings because I don't like your phone  but that is what this conversation boils down to at this point. My original feelings to the OP were that if Apple waits, they are going to lose customers. If they start routinely lengthening their iPhone releases, they are heading for disaster.
In fact, they need to start shortening the span, since this market is so competitive. This isn't an attack on your feelings, it's good business.

big film studios were currently running around like blue arsed flies trying to gear up to release plenty of 3D content in time for Apples next launch.
...for iTunes downloads only. The new cloud based iTunes will have 3D movie content.
The iPad 3 will not have a 3D screen but you'll be about to stream 3D movies to your new 3D enabled TV.

I actually really hate flash.
But I'd like it on my iPhone since seemingly every important web site utilizes it these days.

The banner is current products (other than the Tiger disc) and is being waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy over analysed.
You are right!
Nothing new here!
I'm really looking forward to see what's happening on 10th August, even if I am not in the market for new gear, except for a new iPod.
A week to go. Nice.

In other words, this attention-craving hacker decided to use a Mac to demonstrate an exploit that is far more threatening to a PC. The chances of a Macbook user a) buying a 3rd party wireless card and b) hooking it up to a Macbook are slim and none.

Quoted for truth.
This is the key to this story, and I'm very disappointed in the media for completely missing this. The 3rd party peripheral being used was not secure, and *ANY* computer using this device could be compromised...even a Mac. But they really should point out that Mac's don't need these devices, so it's really a hypothetical demonstration.
Mac OS X has become the Everest of hacking challenges... these guys just took a helicopter to the top rather than climbing. But eventually, malware that affects OS X will start to create some issues... however, regardless of market-share, the design characteristics of OS X will keep malware from ever becoming the issue it is for Windows.
Cheers

Shoot, they took away the ability to "Upload checked episodes" for podcasts. If I listen to half an episode and then plug my iPod in, it will sync that podcast off my pod, even if I wanted to listen to the second half later. I have to go back to the podcast directory and "Mark as Unplayed" the podcast to get it back.

RELAX dude!
Not everyone get one for free! It's only in US!
I can only get a discount on the old model! And no discount at all for the new.
Glad someone else said this!
I'm confused though. I was told on the phone the old nano would cost me 155. Take off the 100 rebate and it would cost me 55. Went and bought my 24" iMac online and took the iPod offer and it cost 129. So i am hoping the rebate is still 100 and it will only end up costing me 29 :D

Apple computers are primarely sold to very practicle users. "We don't need 3 Ghz to read email." Most everything done on an Apple runs fast enough, plus the UI (user interface) is so exceptional, that many times you can do more with an Apple, than a PC.
You have to ask, "What drives inovation?" Consumer demand is usually the answer. Apple consumers, by and larger do not over clock, game, or generally tinker with it. If a standard hammer works to drive in a nail, why try to inovate on performance. Instead let's inovate on style, something the PC world is seriously lacking.
For a long time, Apple's products were pretty much closed to 3rd party vendors. Whether this was intentional on Apple's part, or just not financially fisible on the 3rd party's part, is up for debate.
In the PC world, there is a signifigant portion that: Game, overclock, and tinker. Also Hardware is fairly open to 3rd party vendors. There is a signifigant portion of PC users (probably equal, or greater than the total market share of Apple) bent on getting the absolute fasted rig they can possibly muster. And that is there prime goal, not using the functionality of the computer, just making it fast. Or if they use it for anything, it is gaming.
Basically what I am saying, lack of compitition in Apple's market, has squashed most of the performance inovation.

Heres my question..........Iphone4 is reaching maturity as the number sold has decreased each day as many await the iphone5. How will Apple compensate for revenue and profit in these 2 quarters???? Ipad2 isn't going to make up the difference. I wouldn't count the Iphone5 out yet in late June or July unless there is a part shortage from Japan.
Remember Apple is not the type of company that must put every feature into its upcoming product.

They do updates, they are just free. No need for a full release for small add ons.
So nothing but small add ons for half a decade? That's still pretty sad.

Question for everyone.
I was playing with itunes 7, and I realized that if i hit the yellow minimize button (with scale effect set) it minimizes into the dock like normal, but when i try to bring it back from the dock it does nothing for a second and then it just appears. I don't know if the way i wrote that makes sense, but give it a try and see if it works for you.
 Do you mean the Genie effect? I havent updated yet, but I sure hope that that works just fine!
