Apples whole line-up is impressive....All carrying high performance processers and add ons...I'm not in a hurry for the MBP,MB bumps beacause they are already powerful...now the imac and minis get a little bit more....good time to be interested in OSX.

Looks like the Mac Pro, or what ever it's going to be called, doesn't get a new design.

The C2D MBP was relieved of the whine and some other issues one they moved to C2D. If the MacBook becomes free of these issues as well with this move than the small update is still great news.
No, later CD builds were relieved of the whine. That wasn't solved by a C2D chip, but better quality control.

I hope what this shows the PC makers is that it's not just a race to the bottom as far as price is concerned, but that people are willing to pay more for a device if it's built well and does a good job.
Stop worrying about shaving that extra dollar off the price and providing the rock-bottom rickety low-cost PC that will fall apart in a few months; instead, go ahead and invest in computers with longer battery life, better build quality, and other useful features -- consumers are willing to pay for it.

The delays were actually a good thing for me. Gave me time to "cool off" and realize that my iPad 1 is working just fine for me, and I can get along without upgrading to this generation.
LOL! That's precisely why the "limited supply" iPad2 launch was such a fiasco. You impulse buyers couldn't pull the trigger. Seriously... were this any other company other than Apple at least top 3 execs would have had their asses thrown out the door.
As an aside... my local Wal-Mart has had iPad2's for 2 weeks now. I've been there at least 3 times a week and they're always in stock.

iPad 3 - iPad 3D
I could really see that, with the iPhone 3G (it was actually the 3rd phone) and had 3G.
iPhone 3G is the 2nd gen iPhone.
3GS is the 3rd generation.
nice try tho.

Wifi access to your home music library. It would be great to have my entire collection available on my iphone.

If it's anything like the Whitebook I bought about 2.5 yrs ago, the plastic is coming off in chunks on the palm wrest. Mine (now a hand-me-down to my partner) is on its second palm wrest, and has already shed the same pieces.
my original core duo is begging me to take it out back and put it out of its misery. So glad I bought applecare with all the replacements. Poor girl has trouble running internet video now :(

Nice. I just picked my next computer :).
Chin becomes very unnoticeable as the screen scales in size which is also good!

Is it just me, or a 24" iMac would've been nice to show on stage with whatever that "Showtime" thing might be? That would, at least, have made some sense to at least start by showing that.
Which means the september 12th presentation must be really packed with new stuff if they couldn't even announce the 24" iMac at that event. They've also bumped the CPUs on the Mac mini today, so that makes two updates on the same day too.
It's also weird to see new releases on a wednesday...

300-600 mb over the air?
They'd have to change the updates to be actual updates, rather than the "install the entire OS again" approach we have now.

I could cause the antenna to lose all its bars by placing my one finger on the antenna... Thats ridiculous. And anyone who has one, on the At&T network and says "I've never dropped a call" is a fanboi in the worst way and flat out lying. All my iPhones, - and even non-iPhones - on AT&T's network drop calls period, all the time. Even if the antenna design was perfect on the iPhone 4, it would drop calls because of At&T's network, so yea... I don't believe that in a second.
Not to mention all the problems people were having with the screen, and the proximity sensors... and thats all I can think of off the top of my head. I'm sure there is/was more. Also, I refused to buy another iPhone that didn't have more than 32 GB of space, since I'm currently maxing out the capacity on my current 32 GB iPhone. Thus, I decided not to upgrade to avoid dealing with all that. Really, the 4 was just problems and a few spec increases. The increased resolution of the display means nothing to me without a larger screen, and the 3GS was fast enough at the time. The one and only thing that I would have enjoyed is the bump in RAM.
Also, design-wise, I'd take the original iPhone over any of the others. It's too bad the AL causes havoc with radio signals. I would think someone who supposedly had all the iPhones would agree. And at least not think it looked like a "toy".
Good thing your not a designer, since when you designed crap and people called you out on it you'd be offended. You'd probably not be able to emotionally handle it.
And I 100% know what I'm talking about. Because I have an Anti-Apple opinion doesn't mean I'm ill-informed and I don't know what I'm talking about. I've worked on and dealt with enough electronics to have an informed opinion.
So what electronic has ZERO problems??
The more features that are packed into something, the more chances of issues. Doesn't make the iPhone 4 a "POS".
You've never owned one, so you wouldn't know.

Probably OK for everyday use, but impractical for computers used for image editing because of the smudges.

didn't people read about it having a bigger screen?
Sure we did. Will it be as big as a paperback?

I could have saved a little more money on my iMac. I did NEED it a month ago though. Merom is nice but Core Duo (Yonah) isn't devastated by it.

Surely Apple can't combine everything into something like http://www.macnn.com/blogs/?p=98.
Or can they?
I normally don't pay attention to Apple patent applications, but this one's a doozie!
Everything from 100% full screen to virtual keys, to selecting different modalities depending on orientation(!), to sensitivity to force of touch, to squeezing, to miniDVD drive, to ....
WOW!
<edit:>
Or maybe it's really the iTablet? Larger form factor than an iPod? They talk about various operating systems. Maybe it'll be OS X?

In other words, what we saw tonight was nowhere near the final form of the application.
This statement has me a bit puzzled. FCP is supposed to be out in around 2 months. Are they going to rush the rest into FCP in this amount of time, or get the basics in there, then drag onto multiple updates? Would be a shame to not have it fully ready for release. I'm a little skeptical if the rest will be ready by June. Nothing stinks worst than having a program that's touted a super program, to find out it wasn't ready for release. Just hope apple doesn't rush this one out the door. It looks to put the competition to shame if it can deliver.

"If we're completely wrong and you completely screw up the entire music market for Mac owners, the sandbox is small enough that you really won't damage the overall music industry very much."
So, I take this to mean that having iTunes on PC is what's holding up the iTunes movie store from getting the major studios. This quote seems to be code for "the studios are terrified we're not going to get this right".
Which, of course, they're aren't if "right" means uncrackable for the next millennium, which the studios want because they're afraid of the boogieman (who is imaginary) instead of realizing there's profit to be had in them thar bits.

I would definitely prefer a Fall iPhone 5 release if it had LTE.
As for the voice command thing - I don't really care. It's not like it takes that long to press an icon, although it might help some in the cold wiinter when I have gloves on.

I am surprised so many PCs are sold as it is. I wonder if people are happy with them or they just sit in a drawer or closet somewhere.
Macs aren't the answer to everyone's needs. Apple only have a touch over 4% of the worldwide market so do you think the other 96% of customers are sitting there head in hand wishing they had a Mac?
Apple have targeted the highly profitable premium home market and now dominate it. They aren't interested in the low end or business market because they don't need a huge market share to do well and are prepared to let their competitors fight amongst themselves for those lower margin sales.
