It's not like there's a ton of USB 3 peripherals on the market yet. I could see Apple waiting till the next update on this one.
To call USB 2 "outdated" is kind of ridiculous. A few people have put it on a few computers and there are some peripherals out there. 98% of USB peripherals are still USB 2. Hardly outdated.
The sort of money you put down on a Mac you shouldn't expect anything less than USB 3.0 from here on out. Core 2 Duo in 2010 leaves a lot to be desired.

So i went to best buy and they didnt get any iPads in. Only reservations for $100. What the eff was the point of the whole promotion crap and big ad in the newspapers. What a disappointment (nothing new)? Anyways i went over to toys r us at around 12, and bought their first iPad of the day, funny thing is, is that they opened at 9 am. How the hell does best buy get no iPads and our toys r us down the street gets 5?

I think this attitude comes from backlash due to the fact that historically, men have been "king of the castle" and women have been subjugated. It's almost as if people are trying to make up for that.
This is silly; relationships should be on equal grounds. And EVERYONE should be able to do something awesome for themselves now and then, whether it be an iPad, a nice meal out, and so on.
That's not our fault that men of the past were like that, why should men of today pay for the mistakes of yesteryears?

What are these????
I don't know about the bottom one, but the top is the Intel Core Duo chip. Someone thinks it may say Intel Core 2 Duo, but that's another post entirely. :p

Did you stop to think for just a second that Apple is not showing the new Finder yet, and that the Finder included with Leopard right now is the Tiger one?
-Zadillo
I have the same speculation that Apple will overhaul the Finder; however, it would have been nice to have an updated GUI (with no brushed metal) simply for consistency in the preview.
...part of that speculation is hope. Windows Vista's Explorer is nice. It is so easy to navigate folders, and it looks amazing. I really hope the Finder gets a past due overhaul.

If you think about it, it's not all too surprising that some of these "professionals" are getting so worked up and sulky over this release. The notion that "pro editing" can belong to just about anyone, rather than an exclusive circle of elites, poses an existential crisis. Apple's re-thinking of editing is also a re-thinking of what it means to be "professional". The announcement sheds light on a future in which their "advanced", learned techniques are no longer advantageous. The "industry pros" are facing the plight of impending impotence. It's not something anyone would really openly admit, but I think they're feeling a bit naked, stripped of their status.
Who can blame them for being pissy?
I think you're overstating this "existential crisis".
There's a lot of skill behind what professional editors do. You don't just pick up the same set of brushes and achieve what Monet or Picasso did ... The divide between professional and amateur will still exist even with the same toolset.
I'm loving the new look/style/features though will await further clarification and a quiet month before I upgrade my previous version.
Best Wishes.

It would be very interesting to read Lord of the Rings and have the soundtrack playing - synchronised to where you're up to in the book.
WOW! Either you're a really fast reader or that's one long soundtrack! :p
Seriously, from comic books to my college textbooks to CD booklets, this feature would rock! Don't remember exactly how cAMP regulates a particular intracellular reaction? Just head to page XX on your Cellular & Molecular Biology ebook. Wanna read your comic book collection on the bus? Done. Don't remember the name of the Orchestra Director in S&M? (The Metallica album, nothing dirty  ) there you go, check out the booklet.
I see a lot of possibilities!

No, It doesn't.
this is funny, this one subject is really bringing out the mac and windows hardcores!
I fall into both categories so I like to think im neutral. What I see in Time Machine is System Restore:The Next Generation
System restore did allow you to step back in time thru save points to a point where everything was ok.
Apple have taken it even further by allowing you to do this firstly on the fly, and have also given you the ability to pick out a single file or files to restore. By allowing it to backup to other media they also allow you to recover from a dead hd... all in all a nice feature... shame the space design looks a little naff. personally i would have prefered if they had just gone with there normal shiny black (like frontrow).

...finally...
Apple has dropped the ball here. Now that most laptops ship with the same chips, Apple can't claim the "Mhz Myth" or anything like that. They will have to keep up to speed, no pun intended.
Werd!
You want intel chips.... well you're gonna have to keep up with the intel's fever paced processor upgrades Apple!

This is fantastic, fantastic news! It is so so so cool, and its really made my day. I have been waiting for the imac update and glad that it came around this time. I have been waiting since March and it has been agonising.
Congratulations for those who have been waiting for one. The time has come. Im sure all apple revisions will come in due course, perhaps in time for leopard when it comes out.
Bring on the ipods next week.
Macrumours have been spot on!

Of course! This announcement doesn't have any effect on a MBP release (although the MB may not get the update yet).
iMac and Mini updates today. maybe MBP updates today or this week also? make the media on the 12th all about the iPod and movies.

My 32GB ssd ipod mini is still going strong. These things last pretty well, so even if they discontinue them, buy one on ebay or something and it might last you until something else comes along.

Parabns Brasil. Mais crescimento financeiro.
Not only good for Brazil, it's good for anyone buying electronics made by Foxconn and a good trend.
Manufacturing needs to re-globalize. China has taken on too much. Brazil and India need to get in the game and compete.
And remember -- US Companies are the primary people using these services. Microsoft would not have succeeded at X-Box, and Apple wouldn't have hit the price points for iPod/iPhone/iPad with out this type of off-shore low cost assembly business.
Basically, it's not a zero sum game. Wealth is being created all along the production chain.

Feel good about yourself right? That's her choice to drive her family in, not yours. I can't stand smug people. I have no need for gas guzzler to haul kids and material around, but if I did I have the personal liberty to make that purchase. Kinda like apple products, the more choices and configurations that there are, the more ideal they become for the many different types of consumers.
Your point would be valid IF SHE HAD A FAMILY TO HAUL AROUND ANYMORE.
Both her children have their own vehicles and they no longer take long family vacations in the car anymore.
The wasting of a finite resource and pollution put out by a vehicle that large to drive 3 miles to and from the grocery store has no justification.
And yes, I do feel good about myself. I drive a vehicle that gets 95+ mpg.

I think it would be neat to not only add ebooks... but MAGAZINES!
i mean, the ipod is a teen/young person trend for the most part anyway.... why not make Seventeen/Vogue/Vibe/XXL/Cosmopolitan for the iPod. Make it categorized like a podcast... so you scroll to what chapter you want.... then read the articles and see the images that correspond with them. You could subscribe to them like you do podcasts but the magazine companies could make you pay to subscribe. Something along the lines of what you'd pay to buy the paperback... or heck... even more since people would pay it.
You would have to regulate the content though for what is sold in the iTMS. Sure a playboy/hustler magazine would sell a gazillion subscriptions but i dont think you could get away with selling it in the itunes store.... Just make it an open .pdf type of file (or even a proprietary kind, that incorporates .pdfs with .jpg's .aac's and .mov's) where joe schmoe can make his own for his friends... or for his business... and Hugh Hefner can make his own and sell it on his own website. This way any blame of inappropriateness would fall on an external site (ie playboy.com) not Apple.
Think of the possibilites.
THough i HATE DRM you could restrict the ".imagazine" file it to the 5 or 7 people who have your account enabled like they do with music. You could have a parental setting in iTunes for what grade of content was allowed....
you could do a whole bunch.... NY times in your palm, Recipe magazines for mom.... porn for timmy.... Businessweek/ PC Mag for dad....
ANd you would have have have to make it where one could view the paper/magazine from the computer. Maybe this could be via Bluetooth or USB.
My mind is going cuh-razy
Itunes already has FADER magazine

It doesn't matter what anyone thinks of the technology personally. It's FACTUALLY an integrated part of the web these days. It needs support on iPhone. Period.
Damn right it does! I wish Adobe would get off their butts and make one for the iPhone that Apple could approve. Until then, we're all out of luck.

I am American. Perhaps thats something the executive team at Wal-Mart has forgotten about. I am free to choose where and when I spend my hard-fought dollars. Though Wal-Mart and its team may be able to manipulate those choices, I will always - ALWAYS - have the choice NEVER to spend another dollar at Wal-Mart. Ever.
I mean what the hell I live in America, not Wal-Mart-ica!

Apple never used flash for anything more than simple animated ads on their site! And moved away from that to Quicktime based video. If you were seeing Flash it was because you were on a PC with out quicktime and the Apple site was falling back to flash!
Flash is evil it is not searchable, it is a black stain on the open web!
Learn about it before you bash it. Flash IS searchable (Google something with "filetype:swf" to show only results occurring in SWF files). It's also deep-linkable (see greenplanetsearch.com). It's used for much more than ads (see pandora.com and youtube.com). Anyone who's taken a Flash class knows that its easy to detect the FlashPLayer, so non-flash content can be served up in the absence of the FlashPlayer.
Wake up: it isn't 1998 anymore: Flash is a full-fledged OOP environment now!
