To celebrate or not to celebrate is the question. I received this email from my attorney's office:
Congratulations! You and your wife are now Legal Permanent Residents of the United States! It has been confirmed this afternoon your I-485 applications were approved this week and your green cards have been ordered.
However, my online status did not change. My question is : Has USCIS stopped updating online status ? or Is this a mistake on my attorney's side ?
Can I do anything in the next 3 days to confirm what happened to my case ? Suggestions appreciated.
It is going to be a long long long weekend for us.

Compared to US, Software Engg position in India sucks a lot. It makes sense only if you are a manager in India. I know batchmates went to work in Texas Instruments in Bangalore and after a year or 2 later, got frustrated with the insfrastructure etc there.

Hi,
I have seen that myself a couple of times. I had read somewhere on the USCIS site that the dates get updates also as a result of some backend process that they run on their side too, not necessarily when status change happens.

This is illegal, unless you agreed with your employer prior to joining them. They should have negotiated this prior to joining them. All H1 fees will need to be paid by employer.
Work with your employer, dont get angry....Talk and reason with them, however if they insist you to sign, I would get rid of (3) and (4), since it does not make sense.

http://www.lspace.org/books/reading-order-guides/ has a map over which books makes sense to start with. The first two in the series ("The Colour of Magic" and "The Light Fantastic") might be a tad compact at first read (maybe just me, but I've had friends tell me this as well, so...).
I originally wanted to play the computer game, but felt I had to read the books first... I never got around to actually playing the games though. (I tried "Discworld Noir" for a while, but some of its bugs seriously interfered with the gameplay)

1) Are there any issues traveling on AP under the following circumstances??
- there's no current H1 stamp, although H1 extension for 3 years has been approved
- AP is expiring within 2-3 days of planned return?
- New AP is filed/pending, Receipt Notice received
- Employer is a Fortune 500
2) I've read previously that they ask you if you've changed employers since filing I-485. Anybody familiar with scenarios where employers have changed??
3) Docs I need to carry, besides... :
- H1 Approval notices?? (All of them since day 1?)
- I-485 Receipt Notice
- I-140 Approval Notice (do i need this?)
- Current AP Approval Notice
- Pending AP Receipt Notice
- Paystub??
- Letter from employer??? (do I need this?)

i was in pretty much in the same state like you a couple of months ago. i quit the original employer who sponsored by gc, used AC21 and EAD to join a new employer, and then i had to travel to india within a week of joining the new company. I infact had quit the company since I had an offer with another big multinational and i went to india and came back using AP. no h1 stamping. in both the above situations, i have not informed uscis. so literally when i went out of US and came back, i was unemployed. luckily for me they did not ask me the question of "are you working for the same employer that sponsored ur gc"? this is in SFO airport. as long as u have a valid ap, you could get in, its just that you may get some questions. just be prepared for that. Just show them the documents only if they ask for it. but keep it in hand just for your satisfaction. To me, they dont know much abt ac21 etc (atleast not thoroughly), so we dont need to teach them anything. my only worry in your case is, that you have only 2 days before your expiry of AP. So, make sure you take the ap renewal receipt with you, that alone could just prove them that your renewal is in process. hope this helps..bon voyage...

Our GC journeys have spanned 2 recessions and we could not even take advantage of the slight boom in the middle...how pathetic.
Dates were current till 2005. They were again current in between.
So it has been a game of luck. Many people got GCs and may even have citizenship by now. Until 2005 your luck depended on the state your labor was filed from.

Can it get any worse for LEGALS in this country than what it is Mr Tancredo? Any attempt by you will only get things better as we are at the bottom as it relates to LEGAL Immigrant miseries.
Tancredo introduces an immigration bill every week. Its like newsletter for him. There is nothing new here. No one listens to him. Not even the Republicans. If he was take seriously, then H.R. 4437 (109th congress) would be called "Tancredo Bill" not "Sensenbrenner Bill".
Tom Tancredo not only has 0 clout with Republicans, he has lost clout with a caucus he found. HIRC (House immigration reform caucus) was founded by Tom Tancredo. He is not a chairman of that Caucus anymore. I think its some other guy, probably Lamar Smith of Texas.
Stop the panic attacks everytime someone like Tancredo, Sensenbrenner and Sessions say "Boo !".

1) current visa stamp has already expired, so I have to apply for a new stamp(this is the key question: how long is the visa stamp? 3-moth or only till June 30?)2) the validity of new I-797 approval notice will till 2010. I guess it will be approved next month.
My wish is the visa stamp is 3-month and then I can enter US with the new I-797 extension approval. Am I right?
As far as I know if your current visa is valid until June30 , 2007 and you go to stamping with that visa , your new stamp will only be valid until June30 , 2007. You can enter US by that date. You will probably asked proof about new extension if you travel to wards end of month. I don't think it will be valid for 3 months (say until September) even though your visa was only valid until June30.
Since your visa stamp is expired you MUST get new stamping before re-entering the US.
If you go to stamping with new extension , you will get the stamping until that date (2010).

After a lots of effort I got chance to meet the great man J.B. Wow he was very nice. I told hime everything and showed the FedEx print out which he signed for the 485 delivery.
He appologised several times and went inside to the mail room after 40 minutes he came with a +'ve result with another appologies for his mistake. He told that the some of the packages are piled under the desk (hiding for the eyes) and he coudn't move the packages to clearks room. He moved a bunch of fedEx package to the clearks room, and took mine seperate from the bunch and put a note to the cleark saying his mistakes.
I thanked him and went to hotel room, after couple of hours I got call from MR.J.B and gave the receipt # for my whole family. I thanked him for the courtosy and afternnon I again I went to meet J.B and thanked again and tiped around $ 100, suddenly he started yelling at me...oh man..this was my fault, and u tiping for Nonsence....I got panicked and start sweating....

In addition to what the attorney wrote, PERM appeals take forever. So the best would be to re-apply for a new PERM.

Did you report that you used AC-21 to USCIS? If so, then it might be triggered a LUD in your 485. Nothing to worrry.

My apologies if everyone is sick of looking at my flower images. This bloom is from what we call spider plants. They're a unique very open bloom with just a few petals and long stamens/anthers. Separating out one bloom and getting enough DOF proved very difficult to impossible. Would appreciate any suggestions.
