I agree for the most part. It's the same where I work. We had one resident Domino fan (who left us about 8 months ago), and she was the only one in our department who really liked it. Most IT people I know hate Lotus Notes, and our department is no exception. The client is an absolute pain in the ass to contend with. The whole system of IDs and certifiers is a nightmare.
Here are some perfect examples of what's wrong with Domino/Notes.
1. A friend of mine where I work accidentally deleted her Notes ID file one time. (for those of you who don't know, unless you're using the web client, a Notes ID is what stores your personal information [including your password] and you need this to log on to the system). We tried to restore her ID from a backup copy we made when the account was originally created, but it wouldn't work because this copy of the ID was from before she got married, and her name was changed on Domino. The resident Domino fangirl putzed around with it for hours, and could not get it to work. She ended up deleting the account and recreating it, blaming my friend saying "she made a dumb mistake by deleting her ID file." That may have been so, but doesn't it seem a bit ridiculous that there isn't a "Regenerate Notes ID" button in Administrator? Seems like a stupid thing to leave out. So, someone accidentally deletes their ID file (which I'm sure happens at places all the time), you can't regenerate it, and you have to recreate the account? Ludicrous.
2. Or how about the fact that in Domino Admin, I can't change the password in an ID file, so if someone forgets it, they're SOL? As the admin I can't change a password???!!?
3. We've currently got about 5000 users on our student email server. These are iNotes only users -- they don't get ID files and they don't use the Notes client, just web-mail. Domino doesn't provide anyway to track usage of these, only with Notes-ID clients. I've been trying to come up with a way to show how many people are accessing their accounts, and you just can't do it. I've spent hours on the phone with IBM trying to figure this out, and I can't. Their techs don't know how to do it. I'm trying to figure out who hasn't used their account in a year or more so they can be deleted, and IBM doesn't give you any way to track usage through the web client.
Good stuff.
I do have to say though, that although the client is awful and a pain to use, and that users are difficult to administrate sometimes, the server itself holds up pretty well. It really doesn't crash much.

Now if the user in question did NOT take advantage of encrypting data then your notes "fangirl" could have simply deleted the user from the address book, created the user again with the same name and it would have worked fine which is what she ended up doing.. The reason why the name change caused a problem is because the backup ID wasn't updated at the same time - which is ok at long as you store your history of changes in the admin4 database. That change was probably very old and purged from the database. Regarding ID's what some companies do - mine included is store all the users ID's with a default password in a secure place - give the users copies and force them to change their password. Obviously there's a huge problem with this. Whoever stores these ID's has the keys to the kingdom - including being able to get to encrypted information. We chose to add some convenience at the cost of security in this case. Certainly the user did NOTHING wrong! One way or the other it should have been a 15 minute fix.
Also there is a built in method for password recovey of notes id file - but I'm more a developer so I haven't messed with that. It does need to be setup ahead of time I think.

Wu's stock price target of $92 I think is another good indication of how crappy of an analyst he is. AAPL is currently trading at $88.24 (of course it's probably changed since then). I know it probably won't close at the price but there's only a $4 gap between that and the target. I would be very surprised if between now and MWSF, given all of the expected big announcements (and the crashing of the Zune), if the stock price does not rise higher. Then again, I'm not exactly a stock broker...

And look at what Apple are doing with screens - they are sourcing parts from multiple companies to make the numbers. Which is exactly how Samsung will be taken apart if needs be.
However, that won't happen anytime soon as Samsung are in cast iron contracts to supply. Samsung defaults, and it will be in a world of financial hurt, far more than pesky patent rows. It will be up against a multi billion dollar default that will make BPs payout in the Gulf look like small change.
Oh again you have no idea how things work in that area.
Even with Samsung in a contract Samsung can still "delay" shipments and if Apple ever needs a rush order... Well opps that not going to happen.
When you piss off supplier or force them to do things it is when shipments become late, delayed and they are not willing to do anything that helps you out.
From working in an industry that used supplier and contract I saw and learned what can and does happen first hand when you piss off your suppliers and the worse part is they can all do it with in the bounds of the contract.
Samsung for example is going to be given so many days late on a shipment before punishment. They also will have a claus in there that accounts for some act of god happening and not getting punished, Japan earthquake for example has given them a pretty wide latituid to be a little late on shipments and receive zero financial punishment.
Breaking the contract would more than likely only be a few million in punishment fees.
Also as it has been pointed out before no one else can really pick up the slack. The entire market for those chips there has been a shortage for years. No one has covered that slack they are struggling across all company involved in production to keep up with the demand from multiple suppliers. Apple is less than 5% of the total market in what is bought up there. When you only are a buyer for less than 5% of the market that is in short supply you have zero control and does not mean someone else can even pick up the slack.

If your check oil light comes on, you don't immediately slam on the breaks and abandon the car in the weeds. Rather, you calmly slow down, pull over, access the fluids, and make new decisions.

Ah you visited Portugal. Did you like it?
I really did, it was such a nice place to let the 17-40 f4.0L stretch it's legs!
I was on a Cruise and hit alot of Countries in the Med, and honestly, while we were only in portugal for a short time, it and Spain were my favorite countries, albeit I was in Spain for three times the time I was in portugal for, Portugal still beat the tits off France. Food was awesome, Climate, Scenery, People....the wine. Okay Italy might have better food. But just barely :D

Regarding Rollover Minutes: If you reduce your minutes to a 700 minute plan, they will reduce your RO minutes from whatever you had to 700 minutes. If you call c/s (and ask nicely), they can let you keep up to 5000 RO minutes.

According to some sources within Apple, MobileMe will be free and for individuals to use, and Castle, now iCloud, will be "the MobileMe for companies". Im not 100% sure this is right, but a guy I know has been right before, and he has some kind of connection within Apple.
iCloud for businesses would make a lot of sense, because Apple really wants to make iOS more "corporate". Also the big datacenter Apple built is something that could serve iCloud for small and medium businesses, leaving the new Mac Pro Stackable for the bigger businesses and corporations.

As a ballroom dancer, my partner and I have to listen to the same music but can't both be teathered to ear buds. With a 4g Itouch playing to her bluetooth headset, would I also get a signal out of the headphones port so that I remain teathered to the buds, or does that port get turned off when BT is in operation?
OR, does ayone know if the Itouch can talk to two BT headphones at the same time?

I've added a second i7 2600k for another 50k PPD and a new quad core MBP is coming tomorrow, but I don't intend to use that for folding long term.
Also, we've just entered another cold snap here, so the GPUs can run for another week or so!
